Jenna Smith

Dedicated individual looking to begin a full-time teaching career. I am motivated with a passion for education and a commitment to optimizing student and school success.

Teacher (Pre-K), 7/03 to 8/09

Hired as a floater to help in classrooms where needed. After one month of employment I became the co-teacher in the toddler room.  Two months later a position was offered in the pre-k classroom and I eagerly volunteered to move to the classroom. I was the primary teacher in the classroom for six years and loved it.

Key Contributions:

•  Earned high marks for the quality of classroom teaching, lesson plans and instructional materials used in teaching pre-kindergarten skills.
•  In six years of employment I never had a licensing violation in my classroom.
• Worked with a diverse mix of children including foster children, children with ADHD, Asperger’s  Syndrome, and children with health issues such as diabetics and  severe allergies. 
•  Consistently commended for ability to redirect students exhibiting behavior problems by replacing disruptive, unproductive patterns with positive behaviors.
• Quickly became a SMIC (staff member in charge) when supervisors were away from the center.

Nursery Attendant 2/02-11/03

Worked as the attendant in a local church nursery on Sundays and during bible study nights.

• Provided fun and safe activities to provide an engaging atmosphere for toddlers
• Implemented a signin/out procedure to obtain a safe environment for children
